PRETTY stands for Powerful, Responsible, Excellent, Thoughtful, Trained, Young Ladies—a reminder of the qualities that define a strong and empowered young woman.

• Powerful: Embracing inner strength and confidence, understanding that one’s actions and words can make a positive impact on the world.
• Responsible: Taking ownership of one’s choices and actions, showing accountability in both personal and community matters.
• Excellent: Striving for the highest standards in everything, whether academic, professional, or personal, and always aiming to improve.
• Thoughtful: Being considerate of others, showing kindness, empathy, and understanding, and making decisions that reflect care and respect.
• Trained: Gaining the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, continually learning and growing in all areas of life.
• Young Ladies: Representing grace, dignity, and respect for oneself and others, and being a role model in both actions and attitudes.

Our first banquet was in 2017. In 2018, we moved the date to the fall; but, due to the storm, we decided to use the resources to help people displaced by Hurricane Florence. We resumed the banquet in 2019; and, due to COVID, we canceled the banquet in 2020 and 2021. We resumed the annual banquet in 2022. This will be our 5th PRETTY GIRLS ROCK banquet. In honor of International Women's Month, the banquet will be held on March 8th.

We honor women in the community who empower, encourage and inspire young ladies to be the best version of themselves by their actions OR their work. These women are nominated by others in the community. Everyone can probably attest that there has been a woman in their lives who made a "ripple in their flow". Essentially, someone who inspired, encouraged, or empowered them to change directions and eventually become the best version of themselves. These women are not always recipients of well- known awards or often ever acknowledged; but the impact they make on so many lives is genuine. The purpose of the PRETTY Girls Rock banquet is to honor these women.  Women who interrupt their lives to be an encourager for others. 

These women help remind us that EVERY girl is a PRETTY Girl.
